Our client, located in New York, New York, is seeking a Senior Java/Oracle Developer within the Asset Management (AM) Finance Team with the specific responsibility for the development and support of solutions for the Product Control business function. The candidate will work very closely with the business teams and with other members of the AM Finance Team to analyze and develop solutions which support the business functions and processes, design, and develop automated interfaces, analyze and resolve reported business issues relating to all applications used by Product Control, undertake root cause analysis and maintaining stakeholder communication at all times. The selected candidate will also coordinate activities with the off-shore application development and support teams. Knowledge of product control, pricing, risk/analytics and P/L is required. P/L attribution experience will be a plus. The applicant will have experience working with Finance teams, specifically Produ ct Control, at all levels of seniority.
Main Duties:
- Analyze, design, and develop solutions which meet AM Finance needs
- Support and maintain existing AM Finance Business Application/Information Architecture landscape
- Troubleshoot application functionality and system issues of significant complexity and scope
- Recognize, identify, and analyze problems and recommend or if necessary and applicable develop appropriate solutions and execute action plans within area of expertise or engage the appropriate team/person to resolve
- Keep abreast of market trends and developments in business applications/solutions which are of relevance to the global asset management area
- Perform administration tasks within her/his field of responsibility and adhere to our client's Group Governance and IT Guidelines
- Proven record as a Developer in the financial services and/or a sset management industry
- Practical experience in analysing business requirements and designing/developing solutions
- Proficient in Oracle SQL, data analysis, and query optimization
- Experienced in programming using Java, UNIX/Shell/Perl
- 10+ years of related IT experience in the Financial Markets Industry
- P/L analysis and troubleshooting; attribution and performance experience
- Risk analytics, financial products (Fixed Income, equities, and derivatives), and commercial benchmarks
- Good understanding of financial industry best practices
- Good understanding of IT related best practices
- Proficient in various productivity software tools (MS Project, Word, Excel, VBA, etc.)
- Willingness to work as part of a global team
- Willingness to act in a hands-on capacity
- A BA or BS Degree in a related field
- Must be a good communicator (be able to present ideas and results in an effe ctive manner to Management and maintain open communication lines between team members)
- Good organizational skills (Project realization through resource and timing planning; maintaining an overview and foreseeing issues and problems and solving them)
- Analytical thinking and problem solving (solving complex issues while determining if there are better methods of completing the tasks)
