The VP of Engineering is responsible for cohesively managing all aspects of the company's product development and engineering initiatives reporting to the CEO. This role will provide technical vision, leadership, motivation and direction for the Engineering department made up of Software Development, QA, and Research and with strong integration with Product Management team.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Lead the company's product delivery strategy by directing the software development strategies and product roadmap integration and planning.
- Serve as a key member of the management team that sets the company's strategic direction.
3. Drive technical excellence and innovation in the department while continuing to hold the team to a high standard of development and quality.
- Recruit, inspire and mentor team members and ensure the right technical resources and management are in place.
- Ensure effective processes are established and followed within the development function to deliver new products and features aligning with the company's product roadmap.
- Drive continuous performance improvements and determine necessary technical approaches and cost-effective solutions to achieve them.
- Use third party outsourcing as a cost effective accelerator to deliver such components as a revamped user interface.
- Formulate long-term objectives and standards of performance for the department.
Qualifications:
- 7+ years professional experience managing software engineering, QA and product management teams in the network/security industry.
- Proven ability to manage and direct product management, research, development, QA, and compliance efforts such as common criteria, FIPS and Open Source Code use documentation.
- Hands-on technical experience driving technic al architecture, looking at the big picture and how the design will fit into the corporate strategy.
- Strong product development and management skills with an in-depth knowledge of product development processes, product life cycles, product cost product reliability.
- Experience in product virtualization.
- Experience with managing outsourced development teams.
- Strong intuition and the ability to produce results, with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Bachelors Degree in Computer Science/Engineering required, Masters Degree in CS and/or MBA preferred.
