A financial services company, located in Hoboken, NJ, is seeking a Systems Engineer. As a Systems Engineer in the Corporate IT Department, you will work with Architecture and Development Teams to recommend and provision new infrastructure as well as provide support to the existing application infrastructure. You will provide assistance in the design and integration of applications and infrastructure components using industry accepted best practices. You will be part of a team that serves as the primary system engineering resource and provide administration and technical support services for database and applications development groups to include system installations, upgrades, configuration management, security configuration, Operating System (OS) and security patches, and customization of Middleware environments, troubleshooting, network monitoring, and crash recovery.
Responsibilities:
- Perform analysis, design, construction and installation tasks in accordance with client's architectural, development, and methodology standards
- Define standards that state which technologies are to be used, and for what purpose
- Identify and track emerging technologies
- Specify how business and technical systems are to be designed and how designs are to be documented
- Resolve engineering conflicts between the goals of individual projects and the goals of the enterprise. Define processes where exceptions are handled
- Analyze, define, and document requirements for data, workflow, logical processes, hardware and operating system environment as well as interface with other systems to include internal and external checks, controls, and output
- Understand and apply client's development methodology including the objectives of each phase and the tasks required to complete that phase
- 5+ years of experience as a Systems Engineer in a corporate enviro nment
- Must have experience working with Solaris UNIX as well as Solaris Zones
- Must have Red Hat Linux experience
- Must have Windows Server 2003 and 2008 experience
- Must have an understanding of SAN/NAS
- Understanding of networking infrastructure as it applies to the application layer
- Microsoft Project and Visio experience is a plus
- A Bachelor's Degree
