Our Boxborough, Massachusetts client is in need of a contractor for new feature development and software defect resolution in IP Tunnels' functional areas for Cisco Data Center Network products running NX-OS.
The work to be performed includes the following:
- Develop understanding of existing IP Tunnels architecture and its interactions with other NX-OS components
- Work on software bug fixes in IP Tunnels
- Interact with test engineers to fully define and understand the problem
- Reproduce defects using lab hardware and NXOS simulators
- Propose code fixes for review
- Perform testing of proposed fixes
- Regression test fixes against collateral damage of code changes
- Commit fixes to the OP Tunnels code base
- Double commit fixes to ancillary branches and throttles
- Design and implement new OP Tunnels (GRE, mGRE, IPv4, and IPv6 tunnels) software features and/or minor enhancements for the N exus 7000/5000/3000 platforms
- Write complete functional and design specifications independently
- Provide weekly status reviews of work performed
- Software development in C coding
- Network protocol experience (IP experience is required, GRE, tunneling, or forwarding experience is a plus)
- Linux and/or UNIX
- Hands-on experience on switch/Router hardware/software Real Time Embedded system software design and development
- Strong problem solving and software development/troubleshooting skills
- Familiarity with Acme, ClearCase, GDB, and related development tools
- 5-7 years of experience
- Ability to work independently
- Good verbal and written communication skills
- Must have networking protocols
