Summary
This position is the primary contact for the network environment. Responding to service calls, daily administration, documentation, project planning and management are just a few of the duties. This Senior Network Engineer will provide strategic level technical support in the areas of network strategy, design definition, routing/switching modeling, network architecture, physical network design, network test and development standards, network and data security practices. We are looking for someone who can operate independently and be a doer. This is a hands on position supporting 830 employees in Santa Barbara, Vegas, Greenville, Ohio and Alpharetta. You must be willing to work after hours, be on-call 24 x 7 for scheduled times and work the occasional weekend an d late night hours to support special needs/projects.
Responsibilities
- Assumes overall responsibility for telecommunications technologies, including all voice and data connections.
- Develop strategic plans and indentify key success factors; set priorities and allocate the resources to achieve these goals.
- Research available telecom technologies in relation to the enterprise's current and future needs.
- Compare costs, recommend/select specific products and platforms and negotiate purchase agreements as necessary.
- Ensure control, reliability, and performance of all voice/data systems.
- Manages Telecommunications Dept including all Data and Phone services in all remote locations.
- Ability to provide after hours support of 24x7 environment as needed.
- Manage Telecom vendor relationships and circuit orders.
Qualifications
- Five plus years of related experience in data and voice communications
- Experience in Avaya related equipment
- Experience Cisco related equipment: Strong Cisco Networking skills (Switches, routers, VLANs, OSPF, GRE, DMVPN)
- Strong Cisco ASA skills (VPN, firewall, AnyConnect, IPSEC)
- Cisco ACS Radius, Cisco QoS experience with a LAN/MPLS WAN, Cisco WLC Wireless controllers and LWAPP access points
- Infrastructure experience to coordinate vendors for cabling, A/C, Telco room design for site moves; Experience with office build-outs
- Familiar with a variety of the field's concepts, practices and procedures
- Riverbed Steelhead experience
- Solarwinds Orion
- Certificate/PKI experience
- Monowall/pfSense
- Bachelors degree from a four year college or university preferred
- Documentation and written communication skills
- Professional communication and interper sonal skills
- Willingness to travel up 10%
