The Cognos Developer/Architect is responsible for the design, implementation, and full life cycle management of Enterprise reporting and analytics platform. The Architect will define and manage the overall BI solution architecture including the presentation, application, and data tier configuration. The candidate will work with BI development teams as well as Datawarehouse teams to deliver sustainable reporting solutions with optimal end-user performance.
Required Skills and Experience:
Experience in one or more OLAP tools (Cognos, Business Objects, Analysis Services, etc.)
- Completed several Business Intelligence project life-cycles.
- Completed Data Quality concepts such as Master Data Management, Data Governance and Data Stewardship
- Understanding of leading technologies in Business Intelligence (Teradata, Oracle, IBM, Microsoft, etc.)
- Strong SQL skills
- Strong Da ta Analysis and Architect skills
- Works in a Datawarehouse environment, which includes data design, data integration, database architecture, metadata and reporting creation.
- Translate business needs into long-term information architecture solution.
- Defines designs and builds dimensional databases.
- Responsible for developing Datawarehouse blueprints, evaluating hardware and software platforms and integrating systems.
- Evaluates reusability of current data for additional analysis.
- Conducts data quality initiative to rid system of old, unused, or duplicate data.
- Renews object and data models and the metadata reporting to structure the data for better management and quicker access.
- Experience in one or more Case Tools (ERwin, Oracle Designer 2000, ER/Studio, etc.).
- Experience in one or more Reporting tools (Reporting Services, Crystal Reports, ProClarity, etc.)
Preferred: < /strong>
- Strong in Datamodelling (Normalization, Star Schema, etc.)
- Strong in data architecture (Data Warehousing, ODS, Data Marts, Staging)
- Expertise in two or more integration tools (DTS, SSIS, Informatica, DataStage, etc.)
