Chief Operating Officer/COO
Candidates can reside within one hour commute from Newark, NJ headquarters. Aside from initial period after hire, this will be a virtual role with time in Newark office limited to 2-3 times per month approximately.
$150-$200K base plus $50-$70K bonus potential
Directs, administers, and coordinates the activities of the organization in support of policies, goals, and objectives established by the chief executive officer and the Board of Directors by performing the following duties personally or through subordinate managers.
Responsibilities:
-Ensures the corporate strategic vision is supported by processes, controls and communications that empower all stakeholders to contribute optimally to the success of Company.
-Creates the structure and processes necessary to manage the organization's current activities and its projected growth.
-Directs the preparation of short-term and long-range operating, software development, product management and services plans and budgets based on broad corporate goals and growth objectives.
-Oversees executives who direct department activities and implement the organization's processes and policies.
-Devises and implements programs that meet corporate goals and objectives.
-Maintains a sound plan of corporate organization, establishing policies to ensure adequate management development and to provide for capable management succession.
-Develops and installs procedures and controls to promote communication and adequate information flow within the organization.
-Ensures the optimal design and implementation of hardware and software systems enable the smooth and efficient flow and exchange of information.
-Establishes and documents operating policies consistent with the chief executive officer's broad policies and objectives and ensures their execution.
-Evaluates the results of overall operations r egularly and systematically and reports these results to the Executive team.
-Ensures that the responsibilities, authorities, and accountability across the entire organization are defined, documented and appropriately administrated.
-Ensures that all organization activities and operations are carried out in compliance with local, state, and federal regulations and laws governing business operations.
-Considers impact on the customer when setting goals, taking action or when carrying out job responsibilities. Responds to customers and colleagues with an appropriately level of urgency and responsiveness.
-Takes personal responsibility to ensure goals and objectives are met despite time pressures or significant obstacles.Â
-Successfully anticipates, identifies and resolves issues/concerns both internally and externally. Develops and presents solutions to appropriate parties. Professionally and proactively handles problems and/or conflict to re solution.Â
-Meets time requirements for all assignments, with minimal reminders. Prioritizes work effectively and actively works to find more efficient ways to accomplish assignments and tasks.
-Takes extra steps to execute project assignments and work output with precision and quality.Â
-Works effectively and professionally with internal staff and external contacts, maintaining positive working relationships and effective teamwork.
-Takes initiative within job scope and seeks and/or willingly accepts additional responsibilities and assignments.
Qualifications:
-At least 15 years of applicable business experience, with at least 5 in a senior leadership capacity. Prior COO and/or Director of Operations experience preferred.
-Relevant IT industry experience and at least 10 years' experience in a medium to large software development company.
-Relevant experience directly managing software development cycles and processes, pre ferably within an agile/scrum methodology.
-Proven experience with strategic planning and growing companies.
-Proven, successful process design/management and process improvement experience. Preference for Six Sigma, Lean, or other contemporary process improvement methodologies.
-Excellent interpersonal, communications, public speaking, and presentation skills.  Ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external constituencies.
-International operations experience preferred.
-Merger and acquisition experience preferred.
-MBA preferred
