Kforce is seeking a Senior Database Administrator for an Alpharetta, Georgia client. This position is a contract-to-hire opportunity for the right candidate.
Position Description and Responsibilities:
- This is a non-traditional DBA role with diverse and challenging tasks plus lots of opportunity to learn and grow
- Strong experience in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, using Performance Monitor, SQL Profiler; and other related monitoring and troubleshooting tools is essential
- Strong experience in Database Administration in SQL Server (2008 preferred)
- Utilize your experience in troubleshooting and resolving database integrity issues, performance issues; blocking and deadlocking issues, replication issues, log shipping issues, connectivity issues, security issues, etc.
- Utilize your ability to detect and troubleshoot SQL Server related CPU, memory, I/O, disk space, and other resource contention
- Strong knowle dge of back-ups, restores, recovery models, database shrink operations, DBCC commands, Clustering, Database mirroring, and Replication is expected of this Administrator
- Work with SQL Development - utilize your ability to write and troubleshoot SQL Code and design (stored procedures, functions, tables, views, triggers, indexes, and constraints)
- Document processes and procedures
- Provide SQL Database Operational support for a larger team environment and support activities in the SaaS environment
- Be responsible for providing trend analysis to the Management Team to enable them to make informed decisions regarding resource management
- Be responsible for improvement and maintenance of the databases to include roll-out and upgrades
- Advanced SQL Server skills
- In-depth SQL Server Database Administration ex perience
- Strong understanding of relational database design and performance
- Strength in production support tasks, debugging/supporting code issues, etc.
- Strong SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS), Report Analysis, and T-SQL procedure development experience is required
- Experience of managing multiple MS SQL Server (2008 preferred) RDBMS on large systems
- Experience with source control (Team Foundation Server 2008 or above)
- Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service
- Demonstrated ability to independently troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues
- Understanding of full life cycle methodology for commercial software products
- Familiar with the Agile Work Environment
- A 4 year Degree in Computer Science, related field or equivalent experience
- 5-7 years of experience in database development and support in MS SQL Server enviro nments
- Expert experience in implementing operational automation
- Strong knowledge of how indexes, index management, integrity checks, configuration, and patching work
- Strong knowledge of how statistics work; indexes are stored; how they can be created and managed effectively
- Knowledge of SQL Server tools
